Xilo beach, also known as Veneiro beach, is one of the well known beaches of the municipality of Muros de Nalón. Although not as famous as its bigger neighbor Aguilar, Xilo is still quite popular especially in the summer weekends mainly for benefiting from some of the amenities Aguilar has.
It’s easy to get to Xilo, there’s an indicator pointing to it right in front of the parking that it shares with Aguilar. Xilo beach is actually separated from Aguilar by a tip called Punta Castiello (this one comes with a legend involving an enchanted fairy and the Aguilar beach).
There’s a viewpoint built on the cliffs from where you can admire Xilo which is also the parting point of a long string of concrete stairs that will leave you right on the beach.
Once there you will see a 100 meters long, shell shaped beach of sand and boulders that continues towards East with quite serious rocks and also sandy spots.
With low tide these rocks might become a barrier so pay attention not to get stuck on this Eastern side or you might have to climb them and it’s not very easy.
There are no amenities at the beach. As with the parking, Xilo beach shares showers and toilets with Aguilar beach.
Also there is a small picnic area and there’s a beach bar/ restaurant nearby.
It doesn’t have lifeguard service at all and it’s not accessible for people with limited mobility. But if you love fishing this might be your beach of beaches.
