Puertu Chicu beach is actually 2 beaches. Where in the maps there is one, locals see two and so do I! I never saw Puertu Chicu with really really low tide but I suspect these 2 do not join – but even if they do it’s funny to have two beaches in one 🙂
So who’s who? Easy! If you get there you will see there’s a promenade surrounding a viewpoint. Towards East lies Puertu Chicu (right picture – you can also see here the viewpoint) and towards West Las Mujeres also know as Las Muyeres (same wording but in Asturian language, meaning The Women – left picture).
Now, these are urban beaches but they have few amenities (one shower only), no lifeguard, no toilets, nothing. You can park anywhere you can find a spot around them – there is a parking nearby and lot of parking spots in Llanes – some free of charge, some not (during summer months you have to pay for the parking spots that have blue lines).
But since Llanes is a rather small town you will find a lot more joy in walking from beach to beach than driving 🙂
Around Puertu Chicu & Las Mujeres you will find lots of bars, restaurants, shops and hotels.
Also on the cliffs there is a camping that Puertu Chicu shares with the Toró beach.
You should know that these are not accessible beaches, you have to climb down stairs to get to them. Also, they disappear with high tide.
