There’s a hype here in Asturias about Moniello, suddenly people from central Asturias discovered that they have a hidden cove really close to them and decided to spend their weekends at this beach in an attempt to avoid the more crowded beaches of Gijón or Villaviciosa. The result is the transformation of a cove that was mostly known by locals into another crowded place.
The Moniello cove is actually a bigger place than what you can see in the picture to the left. It has a small, 80 meters wide beach to the East and the rest (towards West) is just rocks.
Moniello beach now has a parking and a shower (no lifeguard) and a coastal footpath built around that links a lot of the beaches of Gozón, if not all.
The Western side has an extended recreational area built on top of the cliffs, with an even bigger parking, children playground and a restaurant. I believe there is another restaurant at the beach at East too (the building in the background of the picture).
From the recreational area you can climb down to the Western side of the cove and take a swim if you wish, the only issue is that the place is quite rocky.
Fishermen might find this pace a good fishing spot and trekkers will greatly enjoy the footpath that surrounds this cove.
