If you are looking for a small and safe beach in Llanes, perfect for the entire family then Buelna is the perfect choice. A 50 meters long beach of fine golden sand, Buelna is mostly known for the peculiar looking rock facing it and the landscape around it.
I seem to always be around just before the sun is setting, that is because I use to see it when trekking along the E-9 coastal foot trail that links all the beaches of Asturias, a trail that is most spectacular along the coastline of Llanes.
A “prisoner” between the Sierra del Cuera mountain chain, Buelna is actually part of a bigger cove that becomes rather extended with low tide.
Towards West along the trail that will take you to the Pendueles beach you will find (hopefully, with low tide and in summer months) its secret companion named the Entremares beach (Entremares being translated as Between Seas).
With high tide Entremares usually disappears, hence the lack of pictures with it in this post.
Buelna is a shell-shaped beach without amenities, located in the village with the same name and East of the Pendueles village. It has famous neighbors close-by, one of them being the Cobijeru/Las Acacias inlet to the East.
Llanes has plenty of beaches and so you can easily visit 3 or 4 in a day and have time to enjoy them too.
Just leave the car in one bigger parking (summer all of them are crowded, including the one near Buelna) and just walk to them cause mostly are 10-15 minutes away from each other.
If you need help discovering them download and use our beach app Asturplaya, it will show you all the beaches surrounding you, no matter where you are.
Buelna happens to be accessible for people with limited mobility, but NOT all around it are. It also is a good fishing spot in case you are into fishing 🙂
