Bañugues is one of the most popular and “complete” beaches in the municipality of Gozón in Asturias. When I say complete I mean the beach with most amenities and when I say popular, besides “loved” I also mean “crowded”.
During summer weekends there’s little chance to actually find a parking spot nearby or a table at one of the nearby bars and restaurants.
Finding Bañugues is quite easy since all you have to do is find the village of Bañugues and follow the indicators or the map that our beach app Asturplaya can generate for you.
The main road GO-1 will leave you right at its parking.
Once here you will see an extended beach of sand with rocks scattered here and there. A small stream flows here into the sea and depending on the season it will occupy more or less space. Depending on the tide it will leave you more or less sand to step on.
Bañugues is a beach with many amenities (showers, toilets at the nearby bars), lifeguard during high season, plenty of places to park your car (never enough in high season, especially during weekends).
It’s almost an urban beach so it’s also surrounded by bars, restaurants and plenty of accommodation, even if the village is rather small.
Bañugues beach is also accessible for people with limited mobility and a very good surfing and fishing spot. It is also a children-friendly beach due to it being quite sheltered by the cliffs and with small waves.
This is how Bañugues looks like on a sunny winter day 🙂 Who said beaches are for summer only?
